Coaching for Growth and Sustainability

Finding methods to create even faster growth and longer sustainability in companies is a shared challenge in incubator organisations.

Coaching should be a vital part of the business support provided by incubators and other innovation support structures in the Baltic Sea Region. Still, methods for coaching are not aligned and they differ substantially. There are also apparent differences between coaching, mentoring, advising and consulting.

Support Instrument from IRIS:

The IRIS instrument for Coaching for growth and sustainability is focused on supporting entrepreneurs by empowerment to come up with possible solutions themselves. Coaching is a useful tool when it comes to creating “self-management” and full ownership of the situation.

The IRIS coaching process, described in this outcome document, is based on four steps:

• Framing the question: Aiming to describe the challenge.
• Analysis: Aiming to use facts to clarify the question.
• Activity: Aiming to define a “first action”.
• Feed-back: Set a time for follow-up.
